About High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound

  • HIFU Ultrasound

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive therapeutic technique that uses non-ionizing ultrasonic waves which penetrate to the deep tissue layers. Heating the tissue contracts fibers and stimulates production of collagen the protein responsible for lifting and toning skin. Because this treatment uses ultrasound energy to trigger skin tightening, patients will feel a heating sensation and tingling below the dermis

The treatment is a nonsurgical alternative to a facelift. It’s used to counteract signs of aging like skin sagging and wrinkles on the face, neck, and chest as well as drooping of the brow area.

A treatment usually takes between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on how many regions of your face you’re trying to target and whether you’re also targeting your neck in the same session. Typically, if you are only targeting your chest, your session will only take half of an hour.

The majority of patients require one treatment. Depending on skin laxity and your response to the treatment some may require an additional treatment.
